Why rescues? Rescues have always touched my heart. They are such a big gift and can bring a lot of joy to people’s lives. Millions of animals will experience senseless neglect, abuse and even torture at the hands of humans who fail to recognize their true spirit. We are optimistic that by rescuing an animal destined for a life of misery and/or a gruesome death, we are doing our part to end the suffering; one animal at a time.
The Heart of Horsemanship is dedicated to providing a sanctuary for unwanted, abused, and/or neglected horses. As well, our goal is to improve the relationship between horses and people.
Horses are spiritual creatures representing the true essence of freedom. These magnificent creatures can tap into the emotional background of humans, giving way to an experience like no other. The relationship between humans and horses may be therapeutic, bringing about a positive mental, emotional, spiritual and physical realm of being.
We love to rescue as many horses from the "kill buyers" grip as possible. Upon arrival, the horses will all receive a physical examination, deworming, vaccinations, as well as farrier care, and anything else they may need. Should a horse display signs of disease/illness or injury, a vet will be consulted immediately.
Our goal is to properly take care of those horses, train them and find them their forever home. We mainly focus on getting in untamed ponies to create safe, safe, safe kids and therapy ponies.
A horse that seems "stupid", "slow", "stubborn", etc. might just have not gotten the chance to learn! To learn more about the training methods used for these beautiful souls, please go visit our "horse trainings" page.
You cannot save them all, but one horse at a time will change one life at a time. That is what makes the difference.
This is a non-profit part of our organization. Floriane works 3 part-time jobs, operates her business, takes care of all these ponies, and studies. It takes a lot of physical and emotional energy to make this happen! If you wish to donate or sponsor one of the following horses, please contact us. In 2025 we rescued 51 feral ponies, took in 12 local cases, and successfully helped rehome 83 souls directly!

Elio: Private intake. Now shining in his new forever home!
Panda: Rescued at a local auction. 45+ degree of rotation, severe metabolic disease,... Sadly she was laid at rest 8 days after intake and strong veterinarian efforts. Rest free sweet Panda
